A way of living

The word ‘diet’ actually stems from the Greek word ‘diaita’ which is about ‘a way of living’. Nowadays, ‘diet’ is more commonly associated with the food that you eat which is only one component of the way you live. Admittedly it is a key component but do you realise the potential within the food that you eat to keep you well or to bring about illness. The gut and the brain are connected so what you feed your body can support or diminish your energy levels and wellbeing.

Frequently in the news there’s something you ‘should be eating’ or ‘shouldn’t be eating’ depending on who said what and when! This can be really confusing at the best of times and doesn’t take into account that each one of us is unique and individual.

Colleen’s considerable weight loss (32kg) was beyond her wildest imagination!  It came from making the right small changes to fit her needs and lifestyle, taking one step at a time and having support.

How do I know how much support I will need?

Prior to purchasing your package the level of support you may need will be discussed and agreed with Colleen.  The level of support required or needed is very much dependent on each client’s needs and wellbeing goals.

Additional support can be added at any point during your time working with Colleen.

Options to extend your support beyond the first 12 weeks are also available and will be discussed in the review at the end of your initial 12 week package.

What happens during the initial consultation?

During your initial consultation, we establish your wellbeing goals and take your full case history (medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle, food consumption, food likes and dislikes, motivations and environment are taken into account). Colleen will indicate what the underlying causes to your symptoms could be and give you simple explanations to help you understand what’s happening. Together we devise a wellbeing plan tailored to your individual needs.

After the review you will be sent a written report including: likely root causes of symptoms, nutritional advice and therapeutic recommendations.

Colleen may recommend a GP visit if she feels you have a health problem which needs further investigation.

What do I do if I need to reschedule?

Plans do change sometimes so we understand if you may need to reschedule your appointment. Appointments are charged at the full fee if the notification of cancellation is within 48 hours of the appointment.
